Churchill Avenue – Carling Avenue to Scott Street and Scott Street – Churchill Avenue to Winona Avenue
Open House #1 – Thursday, October 9, 2008

The City of Ottawa has initiated the preliminary design assignment to rehabilitate Churchill Avenue – Carling to Scott (length of 1,725 m) and Scott Street from Churchill to Winona (length of 100m). The engineering services of Novatech Engineering Consultants Ltd. were retained by the City of Ottawa to manage and complete the required engineering efforts.

The City of Ottawa has identified the need for improvements to roads, sewers and watermain on the following streets: Churchill Avenue – Carling Avenue to Scott Street and Scott Street – Churchill Avenue to Winona Avenue.

Within the limits of the project, the City of Ottawa has identified a requirement for the rehabilitation and/or replacement of its linear infrastructure. Included in the scope of this project is:

  • Rehabilitation/replacement of the watermain.
  • Rehabilitation/replacement of the sanitary sewers.
  • Rehabilitation/replacement and extension of the storm sewers.
  • Surface drainage improvements.
  • Adjustments to pavement widths, new curbs, sidewalks, and road structure.
  • Street lighting and traffic control signal modifications.
  • Water and sewer service replacement to the property line (upgrades to the services on private property, including replacement of lead water service pipes, may also be considered but at the property owner’s cost).
  • The project also provides an opportunity to implement identified traffic calming measures, improvements to transit service, and other features deemed beneficial to the project.

You’re invited:

Westboro Station phase 2 – this is where it stands now

September 10, 2008

For those of you who were left wondering about the status regarding the second phase of Westboro Station you can read an article about it here. (It was published in the August 29th issue of EMC news.)

To summarize: “The city’s planning and environment committee last week unanimously passed a staff recommendation to allow the development of the Westboro Station Phase II condominium.”

Many residents are wondering whether or not the Community Design Plan (CDP) is worth the paper it’s printed on and are expressing dismay with the consultation system.

Only time will tell how this decision will affect future development in Westboro and along Richmond Road. Your thoughts on the matter, as always, are welcome.
